Child Safety Standards
Effective Date: May 01, 2026
At The Nigerian Community, the safety and protection of children are fundamental priorities. Our platform is designed to be a safe, respectful, and secure environment for all users, and we maintain zero tolerance for any form of child sexual abuse, exploitation, or endangerment. Our Child Safety Standards are modeled after widely recognized United States child protection laws, federal safety guidelines, and industry-leading online safety practices to ensure the highest level of protection for minors.
Child safety is not just a policy — it is a commitment!
We actively work to prevent harm, detect violations, remove dangerous content, and cooperate with law enforcement whenever necessary. Every user plays a role in keeping our community safe, and we provide clear tools and processes to report concerns quickly and confidentially.
The Nigerian Community strictly prohibits any content, behavior, or activity that threatens the safety or well-being of a minor. This includes, but is not limited to:
Prohibited Content & Behavior
- Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM): Any visual, written, or audio content depicting or promoting sexual abuse or exploitation of a minor.
- Grooming or Predatory Behavior: Attempts to manipulate, coerce, or build trust with a minor for the purpose of exploitation or abuse.
- Sexualization of Minors: Any content that portrays a minor in a sexual manner, including comments, images, drawings, or digitally altered media.
- Endangerment or Exploitation: Activities that place a child at risk, including trafficking, coercion, or involvement in illegal acts.
- Threats, Harassment, or Abuse Involving Minors
- Any violation of child protection laws, including U.S. federal laws such as:
- The PROTECT Act — congress.gov
- The Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act (CAPTA) — acf.hhs.gov
- The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) — ftc.gov
Any account found engaging in these activities will be permanently banned and reported to appropriate law enforcement authorities, including the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) CyberTipline: report.cybertip.org.
Our enforcement system is built on three pillars: prevention, detection, and response.
1. Prevention
We design our platform to reduce opportunities for abuse by:
- Restricting features that could be misused by predators
- Using automated systems to detect harmful content
- Educating users about safe online behavior
- Requiring compliance with age restrictions and identity verification where applicable
- Following U.S. standards for online child safety, including COPPA and NCMEC guidelines
We also encourage parents and guardians to stay informed about online safety. The U.S. government provides helpful resources at stopbullying.gov and missingkids.org/education.
2. Detection
We use a combination of:
- Automated detection tools
- Human moderation
- User reporting
- Behavioral analysis
to identify and remove harmful content quickly.
We follow best practices recommended by:
- The U.S. Department of Justice — justice.gov/criminal-ceos
- The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Crimes Against Children Program — fbi.gov
3. Response
When a violation is detected, we take immediate action:
- Immediate removal of illegal or harmful content
- Suspension or permanent ban of offending accounts
- Reporting to law enforcement when required by law
- Cooperation with investigations, including providing relevant data to authorities under lawful request
We comply with U.S. reporting obligations, including those outlined in 18 U.S.C. §2258A.
We empower our community to help keep the platform safe. Users can report:
