I love Joe Biden but I Won’t Vote for Him. Here is Why
Published
5 years agoon
The moment former vice president Joe Biden declared his candidacy for president of United States, I knew I had my candidate.
I love “Old Joe”. For starters, he was president Barack Obama’s vice president and right-hand man. For me, that was all I needed to know.
I knew some of his past actions weren’t always what I would have wished. I knew he has cast a few votes that, in hindsight, he probably regrets. I also knew he has said a few things that would normally give me pause.
But none of that mattered. He was president Obama’s right-hand man. Period. End of story.
All of that changed last month when VP Biden said he “would consider” a Republican for vice president.
I clearly remember my reaction on hearing that news. It was probably close to the way most Progressives felt as well. I thought WTF?
Speaking to voters in New Hampshire last month, Biden responded to a question about whether he would be willing to select a Republican as running mate by saying that “the answer is I would, but I can’t think of one now. Let me explain that. You know there’s some really decent Republicans that are out there still, but here’s the problem right now … they’ve got to step up.”
In that instant, minutes after reading that, I knew I would never vote for Joe Biden.
I am a Progressive and I love President Obama. I will vote for whomever he chooses to endorse, without hesitation – as long as that candidate is not Joe Biden.
Like most African immigrants to the United States, I grew up believing that USA is the definition of heaven, the apex of all that is good, and when I had an opportunity to relocate here, I grabbed it with both hands.
United States has been good to me and my family (I am married to an African immigrant who is now a US citizen and we have two U.S. citizen adult children) but I have watched in horror as America under Donald Trump has become a nightmare for everyone, except Caucasians.
Let me make one thing clear – I am not an advocate of open borders. I am also not in the group that advocate for “free everything for everyone.” My family and I work hard everyday to try to earn a living and I believe everyone should do the same.
I am not naive either. America is not an equal opportunity country despite what the media may tell you. Before coming here, I was aware that America was a racist nation, I just didn’t realize the intensity of that racist feeling or how deep rooted it was within the leadership of the nation.
During the administration of George W. Bush, I briefly flirted with the idea of changing my party affiliation. I thought, rightly, that while president George W. Bush was naive, and to a lesser extent, ignorant of many things, he had a good heart. As president, he was loving and caring, and wanted the best for all Americans regardless of skin color or national origin. He may have allowed himself to be misled into a stupid war, but I felt he was a good family man who truly feared God.
It is different today.
Today, America is a hateful nation under Donald Trump and the Republicans who claim to be born-again, God-loving and God-fearing Christians but can’t muster the compassion needed to see their way through Trump’s cages.
“How can anyone claim to be a Christian and support a man who treats women like properties? How can they support a lying, pussy-grabbing, adulterous, morally bankrupt failure? The Bible says you shall know them by their fruit so to know who is a Christian, all you have to do is watch what they do, not what they say.”
I have watched in horror as the president of United States has lied over and over while his Republican friends stay silent.
I get it. They want to keep winning elections but how can anyone say they believe in Jesus Christ and turn away from the truth?
How can anyone claim to be a Christian and support a man who treats women like properties? How can they support a lying, pussy-grabbing, adulterous, morally bankrupt failure? The Bible says you shall know them by their fruit so to know who is a Christian, all you have to do is watch what they do, not what they say.

Donald Trump is not a Christian. He has too much hate in his heart to be one. And he is racist as hell. No, sir! He is not a Christian.
Biden said “you know there’s some really decent Republicans” but where are they, Mr. vice president?
Where are the decent Republicans? Show them to me. Decent Republicans, please stand up.
The mere thought that Biden would even consider taking a Republican as running mate ought to be a disqualifying factor.
I can’t vote for Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders after the mess he made in 2016 and his recent comment that women can’t win. What? Open your eyes, man, and welcome to the 21st century. Senator Elizabeth Warren appears to be too far to the left and Mayor Michael Bloomberg? Well, I think I will pass on that.
Mayor Pete Buttigieg isn’t my cup of tea and that is not because he is gay. He is two-faced and can’t be trusted.
So where does that leave me, you ask? I don’t know.
I just know one thing. I won’t vote for Joe Biden. I apologize to you president Obama. I love you but please, don’t ask me to vote for Joe Biden. I can’t and I won’t. Not when there is a chance that he might a Republican as his running mate.
"Whoever I would pick for vice president, and there's a lot of qualified women, there's a lot of qualified African-Americans. There really truly are. There's a plethora of really qualified people. Whomever I would pick were I fortunate enough to be your nominee, I'd pick somebody who was simpatico with me, who knew what I, what my priorities were and knew what I wanted to... We could disagree on tactic, but strategically we'd have to be in the exact same page," Biden continued in New Hampshire.
You should have stopped at the above quote, vice president Biden. If you had, you would have had me at hello.
There is one good thing about all this. I will vote in November for the Democrat. I can’t stand the current occupant of the White House and that will compel me to vote. Let’s hope it is not for Joe Biden, if he is so out of touch as to pick a Republican as running mate.
What a nightmare that will be.

The Trend of Presiding Over Nigeria from Europe Continues with Tinubu
Published

May 11, 2023In all the years Rtd. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari presided over Nigeria, he was fond of jetting off to London or Dubai for what his assistants called “medical trips.” He would sometimes go off for months without any care about those he was supposed to help at home.
Now, it seems newly elected president Bola Tinubu will be following in his footsteps.
Even before he has assumed office on May 29, 2023, Tinubu has traveled outside the country twice on what he terms “working visits” as part of his final preparation for his assumption of the office of president.
Tinubu’s spokesman Tunde Rahman said in a statement on Wednesday that Mr. Tinubu “will use the opportunity of the trip to fine-tune the transition plans and programs, and his policy options with some of his key aides without unnecessary pressures and distractions”.
That begs the question: Why did Mr. Tinubu feel the need to fine-tune his presidential plans outside Nigeria? Could he not have done the same thing in Lagos, Abuja, Sokoto or Port Harcourt?
Tunde Rahman said Mr. Tinubu will also the use the trip to “engage with investors and other key allies hoping to convince them of Nigeria’s readiness to do business under his leadership.”
Here is the question the Nigerian Community is asking Mr. Tinubu: How does traveling outside the country engender confidence in your ability to preside over Nigeria more effectively?
While Mr. Tinubu is on his way out of Nigeria, the out-going president Muhammadu Buhari is chilling in London while his teeth is being worked on. Why not? Take advantage of the free services while you can, right?
Mr. Tinubu’s victory is being challenged in an election tribunal by several candidates who contested the recent election, including Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi.

Nigerian Politician, Wife Jailed in London for Illegal Kidney Plot
Published
2 years agoon
May 5, 2023The fall from grace of former Nigerian Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu is now complete after he was sentenced by a British court to nine years in prison for illegal organ trafficking plot.
The court also sentenced his wife, Beatrice, to four years six months while the medical doctor who acted as the ‘middleman’ in the whole sordid episode, Dr. Obinna Obeta received 10 years and a suspension of his medical license.
Ekweremadu, his wife and Obeta were found guilty last month by the British court for criminally conspiring to bring a 21-year-old Lagos cellphone street vendor to London to donate organs to Ekweremadu’s daughter, Sonia who needed kidney transplant to stay alive.
The London court heard how the Ekweremadus’ presented the street vendor as a cousin of Sonia’s in a bid to convince the doctors with the Royal Free Hospital in London to allow the nearly $100,000 operation to proceed.
The street vendor was said to have been offered up to $10,000 to become a donor after Sonia was forced to abandon her Master’s degree in film program at Newcastle University following a kidney failure.
The prosecutor, Hugh Davies KC told the court that the Ekweremadus and Obeta had treated the man and other potential donors as “disposable assets – spare parts for reward”.
During a televised sentence hearing, Mr Justice Johnson recognised Ike Ekweremadu’s “substantial fall from grace”.
Lynette Woodrow, deputy chief crown prosecutor and national modern slavery lead at the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), said it had been “our first conviction for trafficking for the purposes of organ removal in England and Wales”.
She said it highlighted an important legal principle which made it irrelevant whether the trafficking victim knew he was coming to the UK to provide a kidney.
“With all trafficking offences,” Ms Woodrow said, “the consent of the person trafficked is no defense. The law is clear; you cannot consent to your own exploitation.”

World Bank: Diaspora Nigerians Sent Home Nearly $170b in 8 Years
Published

April 25, 2023Nigerians living abroad sent home nearly $200b to help families and to invest in the country in the last eight years, according to a report by The World Bank.
According to the report, Nigerians in diaspora remitted a stunning $168.33 billion to the country.
But the huge inflow of foreign currency from diaspora Nigerians was not enough to stem the scarcity of foreign currency in the country leading to the free fall of the Naira, Nigeria’s local currency.
The World Bank reported that remittances to Sub Saharan African from abroad grew 5.2 percent to $53 billion, and the largest share of that went to Nigeria.
A breakdown of the figures released by The World Bank showed that in 2015, the Diaspora remittance was $21.2bn; it fell to $19.7bn in 2016; and increased to $22bn in 2017.
By 2018, it was $24.31bn. It soon fell to $23.81bn in 2019, and the pandemic caused it to plummet to 17.21bn in 2020. It made a rebound to $19.2bn in 2021 and by 2022 the World Bank estimated that the inflows into the country had reached $20.9bn.
The World Bank report said foreign remittances to Nigeria was the top source of non-oil foreign exchange for the country.
As of April 19, 2023, data from the CBN showed that Nigeria’s forex reserve was $34.43bn, an 18.4 per cent increase from the $29.07bn it was in 2015.
But Nigerians abroad are warning that the current economic condition in various North American and European countries may affect their ability to continue to send money home.
“Things are no longer the way they used to be. Things are tough no,” warned Blessing Okon, a resident of England who said she regularly sent money to her parents but is now cutting back due to the economic conditions.
